Dealing with unkind behaviour or bullying

Incidents of unkindness and/or bullying goes against our academy’s intent and vision.

In order for students to achieve they must feel safe to grow. As an academy we work hard to educate students about bullying and support them when they are involved in bullying both as the target and the ‘ring leader’, but also the ‘reinforcers’ and ‘assistants’.

Please see the video below to understand these terms:

Pupils are introduced to the diagram below and the roles were described in a context for them to understand.  This will reoccur regularly.

When dealing with any incidents, we discuss with the 'target' and the other people involved, their role and how they need to stop any incident of unkindness and guide and support them in ways to encourage the 'expected' behaviour of our academy.  If sanctions are required, we will follow the Positive Behaviour Policy.

In assemblies, we drive the message of ensure pupils understand the difference between being rude, mean or bullying.

When an incident arises, all staff use these terms with the children.

When an incident occurs, we first establish which of the categories it is and deal with it appropriately.

All incidents are recorded on our data management system and are monitored by the Senior Leadership Team.
