Uniform
Uniform can be expensive, so to ensure this is affordable we require only three branded pieces of compulsory uniform which are:
- Academy jumper or cardigan with the academy logo.
- PE polo shirt for PE days
- The academy tie (Year 4-6)

All other items should follow the guidelines below, but they can be purchased from other shops like supermarkets for very reasonable costs.
The Newark Hill Academy has strict guidelines on dress and all pupils are expected to wear the full Academy uniform. The wearing of our distinctive uniform gives pupils a sense of ‘belonging’, helps foster a pride in the Academy and stops pupils coming to the Academy in unsuitable clothes.
These basic requirements are:
- Shoes or ankle boots must be black and flat soled. Knee high or Ugg style boots are not permitted.
- Wellington boots for wet play.
- Trainers that are black in colour with a black sole without an evident logo are allowed.
- No make-up, nail varnish, dyed hair or hair extensions.
- Excessive hair styles are strongly discouraged and decisions about the suitability of an individual style are the responsibility of the Principal, whose decision will be final. ‘Cuts’ of any shape or design are not allowed, nor are multiple hair colours.
- Any pupils with long hair must have it tied back away from their face using discreet hair accessories in keeping with the uniform colours and style.
- Jewellery is not allowed, except for one pair of plain ear studs worn in the earlobe.
Uniform for pupils in Early Years, Years 1, 2 and 3:
Academy polos shirt with purple stripe (plain white polo shirts may also be worn)
Academy sweatshirt or cardigan, in purple, with the Academy logo
Grey trousers or skirt or pinafore dress (jeans, joggers and cords are not allowed)
Purple checked Summer dresses during the warmer weather.
Grey socks with trousers, grey or white socks or grey tights with skirts

Uniform for pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6:
Plain white school shirt (not polo shirts)
Academy tie
Academy pullover or cardigan, in purple, with the Academy logo

PE Kit for all years to be worn on PE days only:
Black shorts with the Academy logo
Purple sports polo shirt with black panels with the Academy logo
Suitable trainers which are predominantly black, grey or white in colour
Plain black tracksuit bottoms or leggings in the cooler months.
Academy sweatshirt or cardigan to be worn over the sports shirt.
Other Sportswear can be worn on non-uniform days, not PE days.
Outdoor Play
Our children play outside in all weather conditions. It is important that they have correct outer clothing for the weather. We ask that all children keep a pair of wellington boots at the academy so they can access the whole outdoor area in wet weather conditions.
Book bags and PE Bags are no longer required as we now recommend the backpack to store belonging.
We do expect all our pupils to wear the full Academy uniform as described.
